Minion Lampshade
The Minion Lampshade provides a great example of the workflows and processes we tackle through JS Regen Design. The project was initiated to accommodate the re usability factor of a broken Lampshade, which only consisted of a power cable connection, with an integrated switch and a thread to enable a screw bulb connection with E14 size base. The proposed sketch took into account, the suggested placement of the lamp as well as the accessibility to the thread, to enable ease replacement when necessary. After the sketch was developed, a 3D digital model was created to scale which incoporated the 3D printer’s capacity and options to replace the arms, as to be flexible for any placement changes in the future. An access for an M3 nut and bolt was inserted in the mesh arm and body, to make such adjustment easy. A prototype scaled model was printed as the first iteration, to review the form and general model details. After which the final Lampshade was printed in four parts, then assembled. which currently houses a 60W LED smart bulb to reduce heat emission, and enable access via a phone app which also provides a range of mood light settings, all adjustable through an app.
